Women’s WT20: Will Southernstars clinch their fourth title?

Australian women’s team will take on England in the Grand Finale of Women’s World T20 on Sunday, 25 November 2018.

Aussies will be in search of their fourth title and England will be looking forward to securing their second title. The excitement will be sky high when the two top-ranked teams meet at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.

Australia beat the hosts’ Windies in the first semi-final, and England smashed India to reach the final of the showpiece event. Aussies were clinical in the tournament except for their match against India. Unfortunately, India couldn’t continue their momentum as England beat them comprehensively in the semi-final two.

Alyssa Healey, Meg Lanning, Rachael Haynes, Villani, and Mooney are in excellent form with the bat, and they will expect the star allrounder Ellyse Perry to come up with a vital contribution in the grand finale. Their bowling has been exceptional throughout the tournament. The allrounders in the squad add great balance to the team . Perry, Megan Schutt leads the pace attack which is capable of picking up wickets early in the innings which helps to restrict the opposition’s scoring rate and creates the platform for the spinners to bowl effectively.

On the other hand, England is also having a dream run in the series so far. The top order has been in good form and scored the bulk of the runs for England. Amy Jones was the player of the match in the semi-final against India. Natalie Sciver and Heather Knight keep the middle order stable and are capable of posting a big total on board. The bowlers have been consistent and disciplined for them as they were in the second semi-final.

With just a few hours to go for the mega event in the West Indies, we assume Australia has the better chance to win the title with their better all round skills. Everyone on the team has contributed in one or other game. Healy is in excellent form, and the start she gives to Aussies at the top order will become a differentiator in a pressure game like World T20 Grand Finale.
